Seaton Rugby League Club Match Report



 

Seaton got a first hit out of the season under the belt with a good performance against a Clifton team that showed that they will be up among the front runners in the CARL second division, as they proved hard to break down on a narrow pitch that was in fantastic condition. The first section of the game finished with Seaton leading by eight points to nil with tries coming from Tony Roper who had a fantastic opning salvo and Chris Highton who superbly finished good work by Roper and Routledge.

1st third team: Shaun Johnsen, Chris Highton, Marc Routledge, Kevin Wilson, Matt Dixon, Richard George, Craig Humphreys, Stephen Hodgson, Paul Lowery, Nicky Penrice, Tony Roper, Duncan Moyle, Phil Armstrong

The second section of the game saw Seaton give a run out to a team predominantly made up of second team players and the youngsters aquited themselves fantastically defending really well spending lots of time in the Clifton half but unable to score points, towards the end of the section Clifton got a try through Matty Robinson after a mistake by Seaton when trying to dive on a kick through. One section to go and Seaton led 8 6

The third and final section of the game saw Seaton returning most of there starting line up to the game and as clifton visibly tired Seaton started to punch big holes into the defence with Craig Humphreys and Richard George dicating the play and the forwards and outside backs starting to run angles that the defence couldnt handle with further tries from Kevin Wilson with two, Nathan Kirkbride, Mark Routledge and Richard George to complete the scoring
