Seaton continued with
there winning start to the season with a
resounding victory over a spirited
Distington side who showed signs that they
to can enjoy a good season in a game that
was punctuated with penalties. It was Seaton
who scored first when after a good break by
Callum Phillips Mark Routledge was in
support to take the pass and finish in style
from 30 metres out for a try that Brett
Phillips converted. The next 15 minutes of
the game belonged to Distington however as a
combination of penalties and good ball
control and short kicking meant they enjoyed
an avalanche of possession and after some
good passing they made the numbers pay as
Shaun Adams picked out a good angle and
reached out over the try line to score
Clayton Sutton adding a good conversion to
tie the scores up but despite this the
Seaton defence was excellant and they got
back into the lead when with a few minutes
to half time a dink over the top by Callum
Phillips was Tip back by Brett Phillips and
Richard George raced fourty metres under
the sticks although it did appear to have
been a knock on. Half time 12 6. Seaton
started the second half with high intensity
and dominated the stanza as Distington
started to tire and go side to side in
attack as they were met with stiff
resistance up the middle of the field and
the lead was extended with 17 year old Chris
Highton in at the corner having been fed by
Mark Routledge expertly. Phillips missed the
goal but the camels back had been broken and
Seaton went onto secure the win when Rooke
fed Ryan Blair to finish in the corner off
what appeared to be a forward pass, Phillips
adding a superb conversion.
