Seaton Rangers 28 Broughton RR 12
Seaton overcame a major
obstacle in there challenge for the Cumberland
league title as they bounced back from the disappointment of the previous week
against Kells. The first half was a poor affair and it looked like the absence of
Shaun Johnsen and Ryan Blair was going to have an impact on the teams
performance and playing with the wind Seaton could only manage to go in at half
time 6 all and down to 12 men with Tom Curwen dismissed from the field after a
flare up that also saw Wayne Bell and Brett Phillips given 10 minutes each. The
second half saw Seaton step up a level and Broughton simply couldnt handle the
increased tempo as Callum Phillips began to get quick ball from hooker and the
unstoppable but rarely seen Peter Watson was introduced and his first
contribution was to trample over the top of defenders to stretch the lead.
Further tries were registered for Seaton by Paul Hopper, Mark Routledge, and
Brett Phillips, to add to Tom Curwens sole first half try, Phillips adding
three goals and brother Callum the man of the match one.
Broughtons tries came
courtesy of Wayne Bell and Mark Walker with two Walker goals and there best man
on the day was the consistent Richard Campbell
