Salterbeck 12 Seaton 50 Seaton eased their way into the quarter final stage and a home tie against Wath Brow with an eventually easy win over a Salterbeck team that in truth looked the better team for the first quarter of the match. It was Salterbeck who took the lead when poor decision making in defence gave Ryan Stoddart the outside and he took it with glee rounding his man to score, Gorley adding the difficult conversion for a 6 nil lead and it remained that way as Seaton dropped ball after ball alleviating the pressure on Storm who were defending excellantly up the middle of the field and operating a simple gameplan as Seaton didnt get going. It took a superb ball from Seatons best player in recent weeks Paul Bell to do so as he fed Mark Routledge and he did the rest from close range, Moyle tieing up the scores. Seaton started to use the ball better and took the lead when it was fed out wide for Ryan Blair who scored outwide Moyle missing this time. The sucker punch came just before half time as the ball went wide and Ryan Blair ran a superb line of attack before leaving the fullback for dead and going under the posts for a 16 6 half time lead. The second half was all Seaton and further tries were added by Routledge, Blair who completed his hat trick and two for outstanding youngster Nathan Kirkbride with one each for Scott Gorman after a superb chip and chase for himself and Craig Fisher who was unselfishly given the ball over the line by Kirkbride. Moyle finishing with seven goals. The Storm did add one further try to there scoring with Matt Gorley beating three poor attempted tackles to go by the posts for a try he converted himself Teams Salterbeck: Dan Riddick, Ryan Stoddart, Ross Thomson, Terry McDowell, David Watson, Matt Gorley, Dale mcAllister, Jason Graham, Anthony Heskett, Steve Humphreys, Andrew Burns, Ross Cape, Alex Heskett Subs: Kelvin Burns, Liam Wood, Connor White, Grant Southwell Seaton: Shaun Johnsen, Duncan Moyle, Mark Routledge, Ryan Blair, Paul Rooke, Richard George, Craig Fisher, Andy McGlasson, Nathan Kirkbride, Nicky Penrice, Steve Hodgson, Paul Bell, Paul Lowery Subs: Tony Roper, Kevin Wilson, Tom McGeen, Scott Gorman Ref: Brian Armstrong Man of The Match - Impossible to chose between Paul Rooke and Paul Bell ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
