Seaton Rugby League Club Match Report

Broughton Red Rose 12     Seaton Rangers 34

The delayed BARLA Cumbria Cup semi final was finally played at Broughtons Papcastle road base and Seaton continued on with there fine unbeaten start to the season to claim a place in the final of the prestigious competition. Playing with a "beefed up" team Seaton took the lead when Second rower come winger Tom Curwen finished off in the corner for an unconverted try and thats how it stayed until a frantic last five minutes of the half as Broughton took the lead when a blatant forward pass resulted in Stuart Moore going over for a try converted by Marc Walker to he home side the lead, but with one minute of the half to go Seaton snatched the lead back as Marc Routledge got over the try line, Brett Phillips converting 10 6 at half time. Playing down the slope Seaton were confident and whilst there was no further score until the 57th minute of the game the Seaton defence rarely allowed Broughton out of there own half and the lead was duly extended when young hooker Nathan Kirkbride extended the lead when he exploited lazy defence from close range Moyle adding the extras which sparked a Seaton purple patch with further tries being added by Routledge, Ryan Blair for his 15th of the season and Andy McGlasson all of which Moyle converted. Broughton had the last word with a try at the death for Chris Wright again converted by Walker
