Seaton Under 11s Match Report
Seaton 18
Kells

In a match that was played in Great Spirit, Seaton emerged victors after a
very tight and exiting contest. Kells played with a strong wind behind them
and superb tactical kicking from their stand-off, Gainford, kept Seaton
contained within their own half. The breakthrough finally came when winger
Nathan Postlethwaite burst through the Kells defence after good work from
Jack Earl and Greg Kerr, Kieran Mewes converting giving Seaton an interval
lead of 6-0.
With the strong wind on the backs of Seaton in the second half, stand off
Domonic Smallwood produced a superb bout of tactical kicking to keep Kells
camped on their own line and after constant pressure, big prop forward
Stuart Gallacher barged over from short range.
Kells responded with a spectacular length of the field move but were held up
just short of the line with great cover defence from Brandon Renny. Kells
produced another attack, but could not break down the stubborn Seaton
defence, which was well marshalled by Greg Benson and Jon Carl Bryan.
A neat move near the Kells line, involving Smallwood, Benson and Davies
ended up with Greg Kerr going in under the sticks and with Mewes converting
giving Seaton an 18-0 win with which Kells produced outstanding technique in
both attack and defence. After shaking hands at the end of the match, both
teams applauded each other, which summed up the spirit in which this very
competitive game was played.
