KELLS 28
V SEATON 4
CUMBRIA CUP 2nd ROUND
Outstanding Kells defence proved to be the winner in this game. Kells
started the game having the pitch slope advantage and kept Seaton pinned
on their own 20 yard line for the first 10 minutes. This constant
pressure paid off when centre Keiran Halcrow scored a well worked try
with scrum half Bradley Halcrow landing the conversion. Two minutes
later Keiran Halcrow danced his way through five Seaton defenders from
30 yards out to touch down for a classy try, once again Bradley Halcrow
converted. Seaton then bounced into life with Billy Southward being
bundled into touch after a 60 yard run, Conor Fitsimmons was held up
over the line twice and Nathan Postlethwaite dropping the ball with the
line at his feet, once again the aggressive Kells defence held firm.
After three sets on the Seaton line, Kells Robbie Johnstone crossed out
wide with the last touch of the first half giving Kells a 16-0
advantage.
Seaton pressed hard down the slope in the second half and were awarded
numerous penalties but still could not break through the Kells tackling.
The try of the match came when Jake Corrie scored for kells after going
through five pairs of hands which was brilliantly converted by Bradley
Halcrow.
Seaton continued to press for some points and got their reward when
centre Kieran Mewes powered over the line.
Hard running by Seaton forward Stewart Galacher seen him held up over
the line. Kells had the last word when Richard Marr scored with Bradley
Halcrow adding his fourth conversion.
