Seaton Under 12s Match Report

Kells  16    Seaton  6

Seaton gave a brave performance in this League Cup semi final defeat and got off to a flying start when a Domonic Smallwood bomb caused confusion to the Kells defence, the ball falling into the hands of the powerful Conor Fitzsimmons who raced under the posts and with Kieran Mewes adding the extras giving Seaton the perfect start. Seatons huge pack could not make much impact on the much smaller Kells players whose aggressive tackling kept Seaton on their own line for long periods.

On 12 minutes Kells speedy centre, Jake Corrie touched down in the left corner and with the last touch of the first half, sloppy Seaton tackling allowed Kells Callum Kinrade to score under the posts, converted by Adam Blake to give Kells a lead of  12 – 6 at the break.

Seaton began to take control of the game and ran strongly down the Kells slope, with Harvey Robinson impressing, but still failed to score after huge amounts of possession.

A superb defensive display from Kane Bond, Jon Carl Bryan and Kieran Mewes could not prevent Kells from notching up the only try of the second half when hooker Robbie Johnston burrowed over from dummy half.

Seaton probed for another try with half backs Smallwood and Kerr  directing play and were held over the Kells line on two occasions and despite good field position could not turn this into points.

Final score line of  Kells 16  Seaton  6
