SEATON 20
GLASSON 12
A brilliant 70 yard try from Seaton winger Nathan Postlethwaite two
minutes from time proved to be the deciding factor in this very tight
game between two evenly matched sides. Seaton set off at a very fast
pace with the outstanding Jack Earl burrowing his way over from dummy
half. Conor Fitzsimmons missed the difficult conversion but made amends
when he burst through on the half way line, steaming onto a Domonic
Smallwood pass to score under the posts which Kerr converted.
Glasson had numerous breaks from deep inside their own half with Eithan
Wier and Carl Mumberson causing problems for the Seaton defence every
time they touched the ball, Wier bundled into touch whilst in the
process of placing the ball down and also had a try ruled out for a
knock on over the line.
A Seaton penalty released Jon Carl Bryan who popped up a perfect pass
for Billy Southward who burned down the touch line just beating the
covering Glasson defence for a good try and give Seaton a 14 – 0 lead at
half time.
Glasson responded superbly in the second half with Wier scoring a 60
yard try and showed exceptional pace, creating a try for himself with
individual brilliance. Badley Tremble added the conversion.
A Glasson penalty for offside resulted in Carl Mumberson going in to
score under the posts, Mumberson converted himself and Glasson were back
in the game at 14-12. Both sides battled each other for the next 10
minutes with defence the main priority for both sides, Seatons Jack
Parker went close as did Tommy Lee Armstrong, Josh Ayer put in a monster
tackle on a player three times his size then up popped Postlethwaite for
a memorable try to seal the game for Seaton.
