Seaton Under 12s
4 v Broughton Red Rose 18
The under 12 season started with a defeat against a more experienced
Broughton side on a heavy pitch at Papcastle road. The visitors made the
early pressure with forwards Jack Williamson and Lee Williams a threat.
Seaton took the lead when a Jack Watson break found loose forward Tom
Walker
and his kick to the corner was followed up by full back Scott Rooke for
the
try. Broughton responded with a good spell of attacking play and score
under
the post to take a 6-4 half time lead
Seaton came out well in the second half with Tony Quinn, James Park and
Stephen Tuke going close, Bradley Lawrence stepping up from the under
11s
then marked his debut with a great try saving tackle but the red rose
were
starting to move the ball out wide and it was no surprise when two quick
tries made it 14 4 and despite some stoic defence from Walker and Rooke
the
experience factor began to tell and Broughton scored a further try to
leave
the final score of 18 4. The Seaton man of the match went to Rooke and
Walker but with twelve players making there rugby league debuts they all
deserve credit for an encouraging performance
