Wath Brow 34 Seaton 10 This top of the table clash failed
to live up to expectations as poor tackling and discipline cost Seaton dearly
against a very good Wath brow Hornets side. A Seaton knock on straight from the
kick off gave the Hornets good possession and had three sets on the Seaton line
with only a Hornets knock on relieved the pressure. Seaton began to make
inroads into the Brow defence through Jack Earl and Kieran Mewes and were close
to scoring when another knock on halted their attack. The next set of six, with
Wath Brow coming out of their own half, Connor Fitzsimmons stripped the ball in
a one on one tackle and race 30 yards to score with Kieran Mewes landing the
conversion. Wath Brow played some great
attacking rugby to score their first try with Daniel Burns diving in at the
corner. The Hornets were next on the score
sheet helped by two consecutive penalties with Greg Rooney scoring under the
posts converted by Dean Rooney and giving Wath brow a 10-6 half time lead. Speedy Brow winger, Adam Meagan
rounded the Seaton defence in his own 20 and went in unopposed under the posts
with Dean Rooney adding the extra 2 points. Seaton second row Jon Carl Bryan had
a great run but another Seaton mistake gave away possession and Daniel Burns
scored his second try. On the last tackle, a speculative
kick by Seatons Domonic Smallwood bounced up for Billy Southward who
scored on what was his first touch of the game. Wath brow scored another two tries
in the final 5 minutes from Emerson Allen and Greg Rooney with Dean Rooney
adding the conversions giving a final score of Wath Brow Hornets 34 Seaton 10.
Wath Brow were presented with the League title after the match and applauded by
both sets of fans and players.
