Seaton 10 v Egremont
42
League Cup Final
Egremont began the game well and in
the early exchanges Seaton struggled to
contain their big forwards resulting in an 18-0 deficit. Seaton
gradually
got into the game and good hands saw Carl Stephenson score out wide with
Stephen Clarke adding the conversion. A cruel bounce from the kick off
saw
Egremont collect the ball and go under the sticks unopposed to go
further
ahead and when they added another before half time Seaton were up
against
it at 28-6 down. Egremont scored first in the second half before Seaton
had
there best spell of the game and after strong runs by James Wilson and
Carl
Stephenson Stephen Newell touched down a superb kick through from
Johnathan
Richardson. From the restart Seaton were penalised in their own quarter
and
Egremont kicked a penalty before completing the scoring with a converted
try.
On the day Egremont were too big and fast but Seaton deserve a lot of
credit
for their never say die effort which was typified by Joe Quail who won
the
man of the match award.
