Seaton Under 14s Match Report

Kells U14s  20   Seaton U14s  8

Seaton began the winter friendly series with a tricky away fixture against Kells and came away with a narrow defeat. After a stalemate for the first 10 minutes Kells created a huge overlap with Jake Corrie going over in the corner giving Kells a 4-0 lead. Although Seaton enjoyed a lot of possession in the Kells half, poor decision making and a very flat line of attack allowed Kells to defend very easily.

Conor Fitzsimmons was Seatons main threat and was no surprise when the big loose forward tapped a penalty and barge over to level the score 4-4. Right on half time Kells created another over lap on Seatons right hand side with Richard Marr going in for a try,  a great touchline conversion from Grant Gainford gave the home side a 10 – 4 lead at half time.

It was the same story in the second half with Seaton having a lot of possession but slow play the balls and a predictable attacking play made things easy for kells who scored the next try with Jake Corrie collecting his second of the game, Gainford converted giving Kells a 14-4 lead.

Jammie Blammire replied for Seaton with a strong run from 30 yards but the final word came from kells centre, Kieran Halcrow who showed pace to run from 80 yards and just making the line despite a excellent chase back from Seaton prop Harvey Robinson who caught him just on the line.

Seaton rallied late on in the game with Jordan O,Leary in particular providing aggressive defence.

Fitzsimmons, Robinson and substitute Jack Parker were the pick of the Seaton players with Dominic Smallwood safe at fullback and Jordan O,Leary good in defence.
