Seaton 0 Wath Brow
28
Seaton youngsters welcomed the
Hornets to their pitch as the
winter friendly matches
continued and the first 20
minutes was a deadlock with both
defences on top of their game.
The first try fell to Wath Brow
when on the last tackle, the
ball went to ground and was
booted across the face of the
seaton posts which fell into the
hands of Connor McAleavy who
did,nt waste his chance to go
unopposed under the posts with
Liam Mattinson converting giving
Wath Brow a 0 – 6 lead at half
time.
Wath Brow increased their lead
on 27 minutes following a Seaton
penalty when big second row,
Lewis Pritchard forced his way
over with Mattinson once again
adding the conversion. 0 – 12.
Seaton began to have a few
chances of their own, Billy
Southward just could,nt hold the
ball when over the line and Jack
Earl just held up.
Pritchard scored his second try
after a strong run down the
right hand side 5 minutes later,
Mattinson converting. 0 – 18.
Seatons Conor Fitzsimmons and
Jordan O Leary were working
overtime in defence but after a
succession of Seaton penalties
the Hornets scored a try through
Sam Cruden.
With the high penalty count
against Seaton, they could not
gain enough possession of the
ball and with all the defending
conceded a final try through
Ryan Smith and with the
conversion gave a score line of
Seaton 0 Wath Brow Hornets 28.
A competitive first half which
was full of determination and
skill from both sides, the
second half was disrupted with
a lot of interchanges, Seatons
policy of giving all the
youngsters a chance in these
friendly games, including two
debutants, changed the fluency
and pace of the game but they
all played their part in an
enjoyable game.
