Seaton Under 16s Match Report

Seaton Rangers 16 - 4 Maryport.

Seaton completed the double over a game Maryport side, in what was a  game of
defence in very heavy conditions on the welfare field.  Seaton  held sway in
the first half through some outstanding kicking from stand off  Callum
Phillips.  Field position was gained time and time again in  Maryports 20 metre's
through an excellent completion rate by Seaton.   Maryport defended doggedly but
the pressure told when scrum half Lewis  Crellin darted through from 15 metres
out to score under the sticks.   The next score came from a brilliant chip
over the oncoming defence by  Phillips which saw fullback Shane Ackerely collect
and round his opposite number  to race away 50 metre's and score.  Jon
Richardson added the conversion and  Seaton led 10 - 0 at the break.

The second half saw Seaton go further ahead with a fine try by  Phillips who
took on the Maryport line and sliced through from 20 metre's.   Richardson
converted and at 16 - 0 it looked like Maryports heads might  have gone down, but
all credit to them they stuck at their game and had a good  spell.  During
this spell Seaton's hooker Grant Mounsey put in an awesome  display of tackling
and running from dummy half to get Seaton field  position.  Maryport's efforts
were rewarded with an unconverted try  out wide by hooker Natham Kirkbride.

This was an excellent game of rugby league played in awful conditions and
credit should go to both side's for playing relatively mistake free  rugby.
