Seaton 32    Broughton Red Rose 14

Seaton are through to the semi final of the league cup after a hard fought victory over a game Broughton side. Seaton began the game well and early pressure told as Callum Phillips put in a superb pass to put Shane Ackerley through a gap to score. Broughton weathered the storm and came back up to score a converted try to lead 6-4. Seaton regained the lead when good hands saw Joe Quail split the defence to score. John Richardson adding the conversion. Again Broughton came back and levelled matters with an unconverted try. Joe Quail regained Seatons advantage with a brave effort unfortunately breaking his wrist in the process. Broughton scored on the stroke of half time to level matters at 14-14. The opening exchanges of the second half were even with some brilliant defence on show from both sides. Seaton began to gain decent field position and after running it on the last tackle big Jordan Tinkler crashed over the line to regain the advantage. Shane Ackerley then added his second, brilliantly collecting a neat kick from Callum Phillips and sprinting clear of the defence.. John Todd made an excellent break and from the next play Richard Johnstone cleverly off loaded for the supporting Grant Mounsey to score. Tinkler added the conversion. Adam Hodgson completed the scoring with a well taken try out wide.
